| Summary |
Some commemorations of Reformation were celebrated in the past centuries. In 1830, for example, the 300th anniversary of the Augsburg Lutheran confession (confessio augustana) took place. To this occasion Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy composed a festive symphony, with the chorale "A mighty fortress is our god" at the end.
Anthony Halliday, organist at St. Francis adapted this work for organ and presents it in an organ matinee on September 10th. Further works will complement the performance, among others the chorale "Verleih uns Frieden gnädlich", together with pastor Christoph Dielmann on the guitar. In the end, we encounter a glass of champagne on the Reformation, the growth of the Church in faith. Be there when we open our 2017 Reformation commemoration! |
