| The Acclaim Award grew from the passion of a remarkable Australia.
Sleath Lowreyw was a prominent Rotarian and arts patron who died in 1988. A lifetime of service to his organisation and his community culminated in the creation of the Sleath Lowrey Scholarship, awarded for the first time in 1989.
From 1998, the scholarship thrived under the patronage of Professor John Harber Phillips AC and the efforts and guidance of long-time Chairman , Ian Slater.
In 2003 the scholarship was extended when the Committee was offered the support of major Italian festivals in providing on-stage experience for winners. In 2004, to mark this step-forward, the scholarship was renamed 'The Acclaim Awards'. |
